Code: SCH/18/653 Secondary Maths Hub Research Project: Challenging Topics at GCSE *

This research Work Group offers secondary teachers and their departments the opportunity to work on the topic of Fractions. We will establish what the issues are, what the common misconceptions are, how these might be addressed through adapting pedagogy, looking at a range of activities and questioning which promotes deeper thinking. Much of the study will be based around improving understanding at KS3 in order for there to be better application at KS4. Teachers and their schools must commit to the entirety of the project: attend all sessions, try all gap tasks, collect and collate evidence of what does and does not work for students
