This practical session will provide you with all the knowledge you need to bring table-top puppet making into your classroom. Together with an experienced facilitator, you’ll explore how this versatile medium can support learning across age groups and curriculum areas.
Using easy-to-source materials, you’ll make your own puppet based on a character from a book or story. You’ll also gain tips for puppeteering, so that pupils can bring their puppets to life.
You’ll learn how puppet making can be adapted for children across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 and support many curriculum areas, including Design and Technology, topic work and writing for a purpose.
Along with anything you’ve made, you’ll take away a resource so that you can share your knowledge and skills with pupils and colleagues.
We recommend you come to the session with an idea for a character you would like to make, and bring along the book or some images for reference.
