Cultural Lead Teacher Twilight 2

Course Code
Course Types
Course (twilight)

‘11 by 11’ is a pledge to ensure that all CYP have 11 high quality cultural enrichment experiences by Year 11. 11 by 11 is a sustainable programme meeting local need and providing a broad range of high quality cultural opportunities for all Islington CYP, particularly targeting those most in need and most disadvantaged. All elements of 11 by 11 are free to schools.

Every school in Islington has been asked to nominate a Cultural Lead Teacher, who will oversee the 11 by 11 initiative on behalf of their school. The Cultural Lead Teacher could be a deputy or assistant head, or an experienced member of teaching staff. Often, Cultural Lead Teachers have a passion for creative learning or a background in arts and culture. The Cultural Lead Teacher twilights will support teachers to maximise the impact and reach of cultural activities in their school. Each twilight will take place in a different cultural venue in Islington and will be an opportunity to learn, share practice, network and plan with 11 by 11 cultural organisations and other schools.

Learning outcomes

The Cultural Lead Twilights will include four components:

  • Cultural Advocacy and Leadership: to develop Cultural Lead teachers’ skills to drive the 11 by 11 initiative and maximise the impact of the CPD, opportunities and resources in their school

  • Planning, Reflection and Sharing Practice: to develop the network of Cultural Leads as reflective practitioners and allow space for discussion, drawing on other schools’ experience and to collaborate

  • Inspiring Moments: Making use of the hosting cultural venues to inspire the Cultural Lead teachers and raise awareness of Islington’s rich cultural resources

  • Measuring Impact: Offer tools and tips for Cultural Leads to measure the impact of 11 by 11 on their students where appropriate.
